15th Exhibition at Barberette The Little White Wall

The Little White Wall is an interactive exhibition based on an online community where people can help each other by sharing their troubles, guided by professionals and others in the community who may have suggestions on how to cope. The Big White Wall has helped thousands of people and I just wanted to be able to share, not just the community, but also the concept of sharing our feelings with one another. Visit www.bigwhitewall.com to see what an incredible thing they’re doing.

The Little White Wall is only small so I have asked that the bricks posted create positivity.

Taking part, all you need to do take an A4 sheet of paper, share your happy thoughts, motivational quotes, favourite song lyrics, a funny joke, or just a picture, and place it on the wall. All bricks are to be anonymous.
Exhibition was created by Noah. Thank you so much.

A Hair's Breadth - Exhibition private view

If you walked past the salon during of those cold January 2013 Saturdays, you couldn't help but notice lots of people, more than usual, cameras, notebooks in action – The hair’s breadth project was in full swing. Over the weeks we collected some fascinating stories, started unravelling how we all know each other, and laid the groundwork for our exhibition by documenting it all with beautiful photography, both portraits and behind the scenes, and we captured lots of our special interactions on film.

Whether you were part of the project or not, you, my clients are my VIPs, and as such i would like to invite you to a very special private view of the exhibition, which we are holding at a lovely space, The Blacksmith and the Toffeemaker.

When?

Sunday 28th April 2013 3pm- 7pm

Where:

The Blacksmith and the Toffeemaker

292 - 294 St John Street

This exhibition is about all of you. It is also for you.

We are all are connected by a hair’s breadth. Come and see how.

Where kids today having their hair done?

After cutting Harvey's hair the other day in Red Scissors, I came to wonder that there could also be a missing space for teenage boys and girls to have their hair done. It brought me back to my teen years. I had my mum to cut and style my hair, but how would I have looked after it if I hadn't. Where would I have belonged to?

An expensive salon or stereotypical barbers with one type of haircut? Going there, feeling a bit undervalued? Quick and go service.

What about the haircut they really want. Longer, floppy, shorter, sharp. Just to be listened to. Teenagers know very well how they want it, but might have a trouble to express it.

I took my time and asked Harvey questions how he likes to style his hair. A big broad smile on his face when leaving my chair proved how little today hairdressers care about what teenagers want.

My only shame was that I didn't take a photo of his brush-back-and up hairdo. He looked great. Even the next client pointed out I made that boy happy. And that makes me happy too.

Teens hair inspiration? Here you go.
